We will be celebrating the Week of the Young Child April 15th - April 19th. We will start our week by singing with Mr Cooper who will be by for a visit at 10:00 on the 15th. We are will be working on a gardening and planting theme this year. We will be learning terms relating to gardening, vegetables and plants. The staff are working hard in teams preparing art projects, circle and story time activities related to the theme. Working with the children we will be adding some vegetable garden planters to the playground. Any parent who wishes to come in and read a story or help with a project during the week is invited to do so.

A reminder that the full month's tuition is due each month even if your child is away due to illness or vacation. Also a 30 day notice is required when removing your child from the program. Tuition is due on the first of each month. We do not bill you. If you are not going to be here on the first please leave your check before. We will not deposit before the first..
- We remind parents to please keep all work, home and cell phone numbers updated. This is for parents and any other contacts you have listed for us. It is really important that we be able to reach you if we need to.
- Remember to check for coats and jackets, we are getting quite a collection. Please label all coats. We have some that are the same or look similar. Make sure all children have an extra set of clothes in his or her cubby. (More if potty training!) We don't want to have to call you if we need to change your child.
- Share Day is Tuesday for the Caterpillars and Bumble Bees. The Butterflies share on Wednesday. No weapons or items relating to super heroes are allowed. Encourage your child to bring something interesting.
- The Butterflies finished going through the lower case letter and had 2 weeks of work on vowels. They celebrated with a picnic. They have now started over at "A" again with the upper case letters. They continue working on sounding out words. We will be continuing the zoo-phonics program through out the summer. Along with the special activities for "The Week of the Young Child" the butterflies will be exploring outer space this month. If you have any books related to this (or our planting theme) please send them in to share.
- The Caterpillars are looking into jungle animals this month. Projects and discussions are also planned Earth Day as well as all 'The Week of the Young Child" planting and gardening activities. The Caterpillars continue working hard on counting, sorting and sequencing with manipultives. Daily circle time consists of calendar, weather, letter and number recognition games as well as focusing on the letter of the week. The letter of the week program also includes an art project, manuscript writing, visual and sound components. They work several times during the week on cutting skills.
- The bumble bees are going 'buggy' this month. They have lots of projects planned around bugs as well as the planting and gardening theme. During circle time in the Bumble bee room we sing and dance, read stories, do finger plays, work on colors, counting, shapes, letter, number and name recognition.
- The Lady bugs and Grasshoppers are focusing on planting, flowers and gardening; all month. Our room is turning into a beautiful garden of art work. Circle time for these groups includes singing and dancing, finger plays, flannel board stories, puppets and stories. During their day the Sweet Peas do simple art projects, are read and sung to, have baby massage and tummy time. Always remember to check out the Art work and picture boards around the room. Please remember that each child needs to have a blanket at school for nap time. Remember to take it home on Fridays to launder.
