Children will remove their costumes after the parade so please make sure they have a change of clothes. Please label all pieces of the costume. Remember that no masks or weapons are allowed even as part of the costume. Parents are welcome to come watch.

Please make sure to check for your child's coat or sweater at the end of the day. We are getting quite a collection again. Remember to label please.
A few reminders: 1.} Please remember to sign your child in and out every day. (We don't want to call you to come back but will.) 2.} All infant & toddlers need to bring in updated immunization records each time they receive a booster. 3} Please keep all work, home and cell phone numbers updated. This is for parents and any other contacts you have listed for us. It is really important that we be able to reach you if we need to. 4.} All children musthave a change of clothes left at school daily. (If needed we will call parents to bring in a change of clothes)
Please make sure your child has a blanket to use at nap daily. (just one please) It should be able to be placed easily in your child's cubby. Please take home regularly to launder and bring back the next day.
Wednesday is yoga day for the Preschoolers. (subject to change if needed) Please have your children dressed in clothes they can move easily in. Try not to have tights on for yoga day. Children may bring in yoga mats for the lesson but do not have to. Each week we send home a sheet with the new poses on it.
Tuesday is Italian day! (Also subject to change) Each preschool class has an Italian lesson followed by an art project. Check out the Italian boards in each preschool classroom. We are starting out with greetings and counting. A lesson review sheet goes home each week with the new words.
All classes are working on fall related themes this month! We will also talk about fire safety, Columbus Day and Halloween.
The butterflies are starting their work with the zoo-phonics program. The will focus on one letter each week. Each letter is related to a zoo-phonics animal and has a sound and signal. There is a manuscript component to the program. The children are working on their names right now and then later on will go in to sounding out 3 letter words. If you have any questions about the program please ask!
The Caterpillars are working hard on adjusting to the new routine. They also have a letter of the week program still art based but they will start witting the letters, too. Right now they are working on their names. We introduce one letter at a time and we write it the kindergarten way with first letter capital and the rest lower case.
The Bees work daily with colors, shapes, name recognition, numbers and counting. They have table time with manipulative activities daily. The letter of the week program in the Bumble Bee room is visually and art based.
The Lady bugs and Sweet Peas have a daily circle, art, inside and outside play and lots of stories throughout the day. Sweet peas are sung and read to throughout the day as well as having tummy time and baby massage. Sweet peas do simple art projects that double as language and sensory opportunities.
A reminder that each month we are sending home a book order form. Scholastic offers a great selection of books at very reasonable prices. The school earns points so that we may increase our library too. Reading together is a wonderful way to strengthen reading skills and instill the love of reading for your child. We are asking for orders to be brought back to the school so we can keep track. Let us know if you have any questions.
Share day for the butterflies is Wednesday. Share for the Bumble Bees and Caterpillars is Tuesday. Remember NO weapons or super hero or related items.Children will not be allowed to share these items. Please help your child find something interesting to share. Thank you! Remember that children may not bring in toys or other items except on share day. These items can get lost or broken or cause hurt feelings. Leave in your car. Thank you for your help in following this policy. Books or CD's are welcome any day.
We remind parents of our sick policy as stated in your parent handbook as the cold and flu season is upon us. Children may not be at school with (but not limited to) fever, vomiting, diarrhea or continuous cough. Children must be kept home for 24 full hours after being symptom free (without medication). We want parents to know what we are doing at the center to prevent the spread of illness. We diligently sterilize every classroom and it contents repeatedly through the day. We keep an air purifier on. Teachers continue to follow all guidelines for diaper changing and hand washing. There is a bottle of hand sanitizer for adults at the front sign in counter. Parents who are ill are asked to call us from the parking lot and we will bring your child and sign out sheets to you.
When dropping off or picking up your child please remember to pull in from the north driveway and park so that 2 cars can fit side by side. But please allow enough space for the gate to open.) You may also park in the lot to the south of the school. During their business hours please do not use Japanese Service Center's parking lot.
Some meal reminders; we serve breakfast until 8:15, morning snack (between 9:30-10:00), lunch at 11:30 and afternoon snack (about 3:30). We ask that no outside food come into the center for individuals. This includes at breakfast time. At breakfast we ask that children serve themselves one level scoop of cereal. They are welcome to seconds and thirds when done with the firsts. Snacks and lunches are prepared and set out so the children serve themselves. We encourage a "happy bite" of all foods and talk about how taste buds change. Snacks for your child's class group are welcome especially to celebrate their birthdays. We remind you that we have a nut free school. Thank you for understanding and following these policies.
Tuition is due on the first of each month. We do not bill. Remember the full month's tuition is due even if your child misses some days due to vacation, holidays or illness. Our costs do not change because a child is gone for a week. Also please remember that for those children who do not attend 5 days a week there is no trading of days. We also remind parents that there is a 30 day notice required when removing your child from the center.
