We continue transitioning children to their new classrooms. The staff works together to make these changes as easy as possible on the children. We have the children visit their new group with a friend multiple times before changes are made permanent. All changes will be finished by September 1st. Keep in mind that not all children change classes. Preschool classes are usually set up with children who will go to kindergarten at the same time. If you have any questions please let us know.
Our next holiday is Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) and then Monday, October 12th (Columbus Day). Please check the holiday page of the website for closures for the rest of the year
A few reminders: 1.} Please remember to sign your child in and out every day. (We don't want to call you to come back) 2.} All infant & toddlers need to bring in updated immunization records. 3.} Please keep all work, home and cell phone numbers updated. This is for parents and any other contacts you have listed for us. It is really important that we be able to reach you if we need to. 4.} All children must have a change of clothes left at school daily. 5.} Children are not allowed to wear shoes with out back on them.
Please make sure your child has a blanket to use at nap daily. It should be able to be placed in their cubby easily. Please take home regularly to launder and bring back the next day.
The Butterflies are working on space this month. They are learning about planets, the sun, the moon and stars. If you have any books relating to space please send them with our child to share with the group. The 2015 Butterflies continue to work with Zoo-phonics and the kindergarten prep. The new butterflies are getting used to the new routine and schedule. They will start the zoo-phonics program over in September when everyone is together.
The Caterpillars are working on the jungle this month. They are creating all kinds of animals. If you have books relating to the subject they are always welcome and appreciated.
The bumble bees will be working on transportation this month. They are making cars, trains, buses, planes, bikes and hot air balloons. They will be working on the letters "F" and "G." If your child is in the process of potty training please make sure to have about 6 complete changes of clothes and one extra pair of shoes.
The Lady bugs and Grasshoppers are working on farm animals this month. They are reading stories, singing songs, learning animal sounds and creating many different kinds of farm animals during art time.
A reminder that each month we are sending home a book order form. Scholastic offers a great selection of books at very reasonable prices. The school earns points so that we may increase our library too. Reading together is a wonderful way to strengthen reading skills and instill the love of reading for your child. We are asking for orders to be brought back to the school so we can keep track. Let us know if you have any questions.
Share day for the butterflies is Thursday. Share for the Bumble Bees and Caterpillars is Tuesday. Remember NO weapons or super hero or related items.Children will not be allowed to share these items. Thank you! Remember that children should not bring in toys or other items except on share day. These items can get lost or broken or cause hurt feelings. Thank you for your help in following this policy. Books or CD's are welcome any day.
We remind parents of our sick policy as stated in your parent handbook as the cold and flu season is upon us. Children may not be at school with (but not limited to) fever, vomiting, diarrhea or continuous cough. Children must be kept home for 24 full hours after being symptom free (without medication). We want parents to know what we are doing at the center to prevent the spread of illness. We diligently sterilize every classroom and it contents repeatedly through the day. We keep an air purifier on. Teachers continue to follow all guidelines for diaper changing and hand washing. Parents who are ill are asked to call us from the parking lot and we will bring your child and sign out sheets to you.
When dropping off or picking up your child please remember to pull in from the north driveway and park so that 2 cars can fit side by side. But please allow enough space for the gate to open.) You may also park in the lot to the south of the school. During their business hours please do not use Japanese Service Center's parking lot.
Some meal reminders; we serve breakfast until 8:15, morning snack (between 9:30-10:00), lunch at 11:30 and afternoon snack (about 3:30). We ask that no outside food come into the center for individuals. This includes at breakfast time. Snacks for your child's class group are welcome. We remind you that we have a nut free school. Thank you for understanding and following these policies.
Tuition is due on the first of each month. We do not bill. Remember the full month's tuition is due even if your child misses some days due to vacation or illness. Our costs do not change because a child is gone for a week. We also remind parents that there is a 30 day notice required when removing your child from the center.
