We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. We wish you all the best in 2015.
Our Winter holiday party was a huge success. Thank you to all the parents who came and brought cookies. A special thank you to Ted for being Santa.
We would also like to thank the families who supported our Sees candy sale. The money raised will go towards our staff development training and special activities for "The Week of the Young Child" in April. We will have another sale for Valentine's Day starting in Mid January. We would also like to thank Adrian's grandma for sponsoring the homemade soap sale.
We will be closed on New Years Day and Martin Luther King Day in January. In February we will be closed on Monday, February 16th for Presidents Day.
The Assistance League of Sacramento will be here Tuesday, January 13th to perform vision screening on children 3 years and older. This vision test is not meant to replace a regular eye exam. Parents are notified if any problems are observed. If you have any questions let us know.
Kids Care dental will be here on Thursday, January 22nd to talk to the children about dental health and show proper tooth brushing procedures. They will visit all preschool classes. Again if you have any questions let us know.
A reminder that each month we will be sending home a book order form. Scholastic offers a great selection of books at very reasonable prices. The school earns points so that we may increase our library too. Reading together is a wonderful way to strengthen reading skills and instill the love of reading for your child. We are asking for orders to be brought back to the school so we can keep track. Let us know if you have any questions.
The butterflies are working on winter fun this month. We will have a special project planned for Martin Luther King Day. The children continue with the zoo-phonics program. They are now 1/2 way through the Alphabet. It is such a joy to watch their enthusiasm as they learn to sound out new words. Remember if you have not done so already find out from your school district when and how to start the registration process for kindergarten. You will need your child's birth certificate, up-to-date immunization record and in many cases proof of residency. If you have any questions let a staff member know.
The caterpillars are also working on Winter fun this month. They will also do a project for Martin Luther King Day. If you have any books on winter please send them in to share. They continue to work on writing their names and will start writing the letter of the week. They will also be working on writing their numbers.
Winter fun is also the theme for the bumble bees this month. The bees work on colors, shapes, counting and name recognition with game like activities at circle each day. Each day they work on puzzles or other manipulatives at table time for small muscle development.
The Infant and toddler groups will also be working on winter theme this month. Remember to check out all the hanging art and our poster boards around the rooms. Please send in an updated immunization record each time your child receives one. Thank you!
Share day for the butterflies is Thursday. Share for the Bumble Bees and Caterpillars is Tuesday. Remember NO weapons or super hero or related items.Children will not be allowed to share these items. Thank you! Remember that children should not bring in toys or other items except on share day. These items can get lost or broken or cause hurt feelings. Thank you for your help in following this policy. Books or CD's are welcome any day.
We remind parents of our sick policy as stated in your parent handbook as the cold and flu season is upon us. Children may not be at school with (but not limited to) fever, vomiting, diarrhea or continuous cough. Children should be kept home for 24 full hours after being symptom free (without medication). We want parents to know what we are doing at the center to prevent the spread of illness. We are diligently sterilizing every classroom and it contents repeatedly through the day. We are keeping our air purifier on and our windows open for ventilation. Teachers continue to follow all guidelines for diaper changing and hand washing. Parents who are ill are asked to call us from the parking lot and we will bring your child and sign out sheets to you.
When dropping off or picking up your child please remember to pull in from the north driveway and park so that 2 cars can fit side by side. (But please allow enough space for the gate to open.) Also our wonderful neighbors @ Fresh & Quick Catering allow us to use their lot however they do ask that you use the spaces facing Riverside Blvd and not along the building or the fence separating our properties. During their business hours please do not use Japanese Service Center's parking lot.
Some meal reminders; we serve breakfast until 8:15, morning snack (between 9:30-10:00), lunch at 11:30 and afternoon snack (about 3:30). We ask that no outside food come into the center for individuals. Snacks for your child's class group are welcome. We remind you that we have a nut free school. Thank you for understanding these policies..
We remind parents to please keep all work, home and cell phone numbers updated. This is for parents and any other contacts you have listed for us. It is really important that we be able to reach you if we need to.
Remember to check coat racks for coats, jackets and sweaters you may have left. We have quite a collection right now. Please label all coats and sweaters.
Tuition is due on the first of each month. We do not bill. Remember the full month's tuition is due even if your child misses some days due to vacation or illness.
